Text Box: Tutoring& Coaching For Students Text Box: Tutoring& Coaching For Students Text Box: Reading Comprehension Reading comprehension is one of the necessary skills that students require in order to be successful in all other subject areas. They must be successful in obtaining the appropriate information, to learn it and utilize it. Our classes teach students to analyze passages for content and specific information enabling them to answer questions typically appearing on reading comprehension tests. Improved skills in reading comprehension are required in all levels of elementary, secondary and post-secondary education and have been associated with marked improvement in all academic areas. Our program is tailored for students from grades 1-12. It will show a marked improvement in vocabulary, comprehension, reading speed, fact retention and recall. After completing a reading comprehension diagnostic test, problem areas will be identified. A customized study plan will be designed and implemented. Text Box: Sciences We offer Science courses for all grades, as well as Biology, Chemistry, and Physics courses for Grades 11-12. Again, we stress review and mastery of all course material throughout the year, as well as intensive Provincial exam preparation. Any challenging concepts are examined and explained with practice problems assigned. Students are required to complete assignments and in-class practice in a manner that will ensure positive results. Math Once students’ levels have been assessed an individualized program is prepared. Working in conjunction with the teachers the Math courses will go throughout the year for Grades K-7 and semester for grades 8-12. The elementary level courses focus on basic Math skills, which are reinforced during class time, and through daily homework assignments. The high school level math courses are more specialized . These courses require review of all course material and include intensive Provincial exam preparation for Grades 10 & 12 students. Text Box: French and Spanish After assessment has been made and appropriated teachers have been contacted we will motive our students to improve overall comprehension of both written and oral material in the course. Emphasis in placed on daily review of vocabulary, comprehension and written components of the language. We will work with the student to improve the experience of learning a second language. Thus, our writing courses focus on developing different styles of creative writing, while placing emphasis on technique, sentence structure and grammar. Our classes motivate students and allow them to utilize their imagination while teaching them how to express their own thoughts and ideas on paper. Students will acquire various test-taking strategies to improve their scores. Numerous practice exams will be administered during the course, and an intensive review of all units will be completed during class time. Our students have shown marked improvement in their test scores after having completed one of our Provincial exam preparation courses. Text Box: University Applications Since success of our students is very important to us we have created services to help guide students through the arduous and complicated process of applying to a post-secondary institution. Assessments are made based on the students skills and interests to help identify and narrow appropriate career choices. Post secondary institutions are examined and chosen based on parents and student interaction. This completely individualized service is based on the student's specific needs, and includes editing and proof-reading of application essays as well as scholarship preparation and application. Graduation Coaching This particular service is geared toward grade twelve students who need that extra push in completing all essential course and graduating.
